Living in the suburbs of Athens makes a visit to the centre an actual excursion.
At 14, I just began exploring the world of photography.
The shoot for “Day in Athens” was my first as an amateur photographer.
I hopped on a train with my best friend and no itinerary whatsoever.
We both had our cameras – our only goal to explore and take pictures.
I try various exposure and shutter speed combinations then studied the results.
I enjoyed over-exposing then editing the pictures into B&W.
I wanted to capture exterior motion when this old lady looked at me through the train window. Instead the shot reflected the train interior as we passed through a tunnel in total darkness.
The way two people pass each other at the Omonoia exit, the entire station exudes a rush-hour chaos.
In contrast, framing and positioning one’s target shot changes the outcome of the picture.
My favorites are the cat photos I took in the alleys of Monastiraki for an abstract art exhibition. They’re the easiest pictures I’ve ever taken.
